Questions for All Camp Locations
Can we go to multiple camps?
Yes, we have 9 total weeks of camps throughout the summer. Many campers attend all our camps across Nashville, including multiple weeks at the same camp. Each week is different at Leadership Academy camps.
How can I sponsor a camper to get to camp?
Click the “Register for Camp” button at the top of the page, then click “Donations”! Leadership Academy and its generous customers sponsor more than 20 kids to attend camp each year on full or partial scholarships. Click here to learn more about our Campership program!
Do you offer Extended care?
All camp locations are offering extended care from 7:45 am-5:15 pm. Weekly Extended Care can be purchased as an add-on during registration for $65/week. Extended Care includes activities and supervision by our highly trained camp staff. Campers are encouraged to pack an extra snack with their lunch. Drop-off and pick-up each day is at the park nature centers. A late pickup fee of $1/minute may be assessed.
Regular drop-off is 8:45-9:00 am and pick-up is 3:45-4:00 pm, campers arriving early or staying late will be charged $1 per minutes if not enrolled in Extended Care.
How many sessions can I enroll my child for this summer?
We would love to see you all summer! Leadership Academy offers a variety of camps and locations to have an enriching experience with us all summer long, but we ask that you limit enrollment in any one of our camps to 4 weeks of the summer. We recommend mixing up camps so campers can develop new skills, attend overnight camps, play sports, go camping or spend time with family. We believe that there are many valuable experiences for our campers and we encourage our campers to have a well-rounded summer.
What happens if I need to cancel?
Cancellation Policy for Leadership Academy Camps
There is no fee to cancel 91 days or more before camp; refunds will be made to the card you used to register.
If you cancel 31-90 days before the start of camp, we can offer you a camp credit to be used for future sessions.
We do not give refunds or camp credits for cancellations less than 30 days before the start of camp without a doctor’s note.
Cancellation requests must be in writing and submitted through our contact page.
Does it cost anything to switch weeks?
There is no fee for transfer to another week up to 31 days before the start if space is available.
Session changes 30-14 days before the start of camp will incur a $25 processing fee.
No transfers will be processed within 14 days of camp without a doctor’s note.
How does the "Wait List" work?
To add your camper to the waitlist, go to register as normal and choose the session that you would like. When a space becomes available you will receive a text in the order of waitlist signup. After responding to the text that you would like the spot, you will have 24 hours to complete your registration. After 24 hours, the space will be opened up to the next person on the waitlist.
What do I do if my child is too sick to come to camp?
We appreciate you not sending your sick child to camp! Please make sure to text your camp director to let them know. We do not offer refunds or make-up days for missed days of camp. We may be able to offer you a transfer or camp credit if you let us know ahead of time that your child will miss the entire week due to broken limbs, or other approved medical reasons. Please contact the camp office rather than the site director with these requests at (833) 244-3288.
How do I find pictures and updates of my camper?
How will my child stay cool and hydrated this summer?
Every camper will bring a full water bottle in the morning and their counselor will facilitate frequent water breaks and refills. The campers will also be reminded to fill up their water bottles when their group stops at the restroom. Nature campers will have the opportunity to play in the creeks and rivers flowing through the park. Our counselors are trained to remind campers to reapply sunscreen, as well as to choose shady areas for activities whenever possible.
Can my child be grouped with their friends?
That depends! We do accept “buddy requests” during camp registration. We do our best to ensure buddy requests of campers within 1 year of each other’s ages are put in the same group. Occasionally we can honor buddy requests with a bigger age gap, but it depends on the age spread of the group. Buddy requests are used for overall camp groupings, but not for activity pairings that are made daily for various camp activities. Most campers come to camp without friends and our counselors are excellent friend connectors.
Bug bites, ticks, poison ivy, and stings
Due to the outdoor location of our programming, your camper may come in contact with something that makes them itch, like bug bites, poison ivy and other stings. Our staff will educate your camper about these hazards, will help them try to avoid contact with hazards and remind campers to check themselves for ticks. We do request that you thoroughly check your camper when they arrive home as ticks will often hide under clothing in areas that will not be checked by our staff. In addition we stock our first aid kits with Calamine Lotion, hydrocortisone cream and Neosporin for basic relief of these symptoms. All camp staff are trained in first aid and CPR, so they are ready to help keep your child safe at camp.
What if my child takes prescription medication?
Please administer all medications before bringing your camper each camp day. Please alert the camp director of any issues or if your child will be bringing an inhaler or EpiPen.
What if my child gets injured while at camp?
Our camp staff is trained in First Aid and CPR, so they are ready to help keep your child safe at camp. Sometimes scrapes, cuts, bumps, and bruises happen while we play and explore. Every staff member has a first aid kit in the backpack and is ready to care for your camper as they need. For simple first aid injuries, like a band-aid fixes, we just take care of it and move on with the day. For any injury that requires a bit more attention, we will give you a call/text to let you know what is going on. We do stock a few children’s over-the counter medicines in the camp director’s first aid kit including Benadryl, Advil, and Tylenol. The camp director will call you before giving these to your child.
